The Unsung (2024)
Malloy James was the 2024 Distinguished Fellow for the Design Akademie Saaleck (dieDAS). Through this fellowship, he created an immersive composition reflective of the program's themes of material evidence and labor, reflecting on the difficult and contested history of the campus and region. The composition was performed by James as the closing program for the annual Walk + Talk event.

Amongst the Trees (2024)
Malloy James was the first musician to participate in the Paimio Sanatorium Artist Residency program in the summer of 2024. Through an immersive residence at the historic building in Finland, he created score in four acts inspired by the history, design, and potential of the space.

Something Died When You Left (2024)
A new project entirely produced, written, composed, mixed, and mastered by James himself, the 15 tracks blend hip-hop, neo-soul, psych-rock, and R&B to create a narrative and mood that channels an old-school feel and creates a world that is uniquely contemporary and fresh. Something Died When You Left is constructed as a series of vignettes, channeling different characters around the world searching for love, meaning, joy, and purpose.

Atelier 8 (2022)
Blending hip hop, R&B, psych rock, & funk, Atelier 8 is Malloy James’ most eclectic project to date. Atelier 8 was inspired by travel and experiences abroad, with each song embodying a different experience of space and time like a series of short stories.

Brunch with Chanel (2021)
A tight, six track project, experimenting with a more neo soul, hip-hop fusion production style, Brunch with Chanel is anchored by a coming-of-age narrative arc centered on James’ early discovery of the music that would later become a major inspiration.

The Shallows (2021)
The first major project featuring mixing, mastering, production, composition, and arrangement exclusively by Malloy James, The Shallows is a poetic exploration of adolescence and young adulthood in “the shallows" the inner city, drawing on the sights, sounds, and emotional tenor of his own experiences growing up in Harlem, describing the highs and lows of romance, friendship, and successes.
